Amora The Enchantress
Marvel Comic Style
Why did we do this costume:
My daughter Alexis has been watching the fun Cody (my son) and I were having fun at the cons and contending in costume contest, she wanted that fun. I preferred to start off small for her and figured to have her accompany our group creation. Cody adopts the costume theme each year. It's a sold we vary each year between Marvel and DC. This was a Marvel year and Cody want to do Taskmaster from concept art for the MCU. I determined I will make a villain as well with Dr. Doom which my style is again concept art. Well, why not include a female villain so we went with the Asgardian Amora the Enchantress
Build progress:
Starting my write up I will go from the head down. I handmade the head piece from plastic with elastic with the back coated with foam. Her hair will be dusted golden color with wash out spray.
I took a leotard pattern and changed it to match Amora's. The fabric was a four-way stretch metallic green. I used a double needle for the pleats. I opted to continue with a flesh tone long sleeve leotard because frankly Alexis is six years old and should not be showing so much skin in a costume. the outer leotard is held to the under with small snaps.
The belt is a foam base coated with green vinyl and the tails skirt is the same material as the leotard. Her tights are simple cotton tights with the all to recognizable ring airbrushed. The shoes are ideal low heeled boots on the inside of the tights to allow the rings to come to the top of the foot. I cut the heal out and sealed the raw edge. the soles are sand paper glue to the tights to save the life of them.
After thoughts:
Great third run on a costume for her. My most challenging part was the fact I work 40 hours at a job and keeping a house down I start early on the costumes. Well, with that said growth plays a part on making a costume for her. I would take nothing back or adjust third design. She already expressed her desire to wear this on Halloween. Residing in New England it can become a little chilly. I will add a cloak to the construction and try to match the global pattern
