Supergirl

Why did we do this costume:

            Since Alexis first was exposed to Wonder Woman, she has always been attracted to the female superheroes. When The season premier of Supergirl happen Alexis has always been front and center to watch it with dad and Cody (sometimes mom). She came and asked if I could make her a Supergirl costume and ..... I said yes  naturally

Build progress:

           I started with a long sleeve navy blue leotard and cut the holes for her thumbs. I reinforced the holes hit a close zigzag stitching. The red decorative line was airbrushed to match the original. I hand made the symbol out of foam. Before attaching the S symbol I added a layer of red paint. 

          The skirt was created from the same cloth as the cape and I used a close eye when designing it. The skirt adhered to the back of the belt. The belt base was foam wrapped over with a golden cloth. It closes in the back with two small J hooks

          The boots were based upon a basic pair of girls flats. I formed the finished boot by hand to her leg. The out material is simply red vinyl. The boots closed in the back with thin zippers

          Lastly just a pair of black tights for the legs

After thoughts:

          The one thing I need to pick on was the material I used for the skirt. Now my daughter being six is not yet portioned to the TV Kara. The boot stopped at just above the knee and the skirt ended mid-thigh. I went longer with the skirt just because the length was odd looking. Well, due to this result the shirt started to get pulls and frayed a bit from the boots rubbing. Other than that I have no regrets with this costume
